Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. The first line of his family was that his father was the youngest of nine kids who were raised within Eufala by Lucious Selmon. In football, he was with his three brothers from Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. They also won two national championships. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third year in the year 1975. Selmon obtained a degree as a teacher. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work during his college years. After college, he moved in Tampa and played for nine years with the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro three times. Then he started his professional career. The first job he had was an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among 10 of the most notable young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs in his college days. He captained the 1975 team. In 1993 he was appointed associate director of the University of South Florida. The College Football Hall of Fame recognized him on the 28th of October, 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
