
Heidi Watney (born May 19 1981) is an American sportscaster who serves as an editor for Apple TV+. She earned her degree from the University of San Diego and has worked as a sportscaster for various stations which include Time Warner Cable SportsNet, New England Sports Network in Boston, Time Warner Cable SportsNet Los Angeles, and two stations in Fresno. Watney attended Clovis West High School, Fresno. In her time there, she competed in hurdles and diving. She was an National Merit Scholar, and she attended the University of San Diego as an academic scholarship. She was awarded an honors degree in 2003. Watney was a contestant at Miss California USA 2002, in which she finished as the first third place. Watney is the mother of golf professional Nick Watney. Seven years ago, Andy Weir claimed that he made use of the surname Watney in the creation of the character Mark Watney in his science fiction novel The Martian. This was after hearing her name on an Red Sox game broadcast. Watney is featured in the music video for Dropkick Murphys ?T single "Going Out in Style".
